Dr. Mike Johnson graduated from Auburn University in 1988, after he completed his undergraduate degree in Animal Science at the University of Kentucky. Even though Dr. Johnson originally hails from Nashville, he was raised in Kentucky and now resides in Shelbyville. After graduation, Dr. Johnson worked in other practices before opening his own in 1994. He treats both small animal and equine and has a special interest in equine reproduction and orthopedic surgery. Dr. Johnson is married, has 2 children and 3 awesome grandkids. He enjoys spending time on the farm and does his best to sneak in some time for UK basketball and horse racing.
Dr. Flounders graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Her undergraduate degree was obtained from William and Mary University in Virginia. She is fluent in Spanish, Japanese and Arabic. Her area of interest is equine medicine with a special interest in reproduction and lameness.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jessy moved to Simpsonville in 2009. Not long after moving, she was able to join the JVC team and has been loving it ever since. She enjoys working with small animals, as well as horses. Her household boasts a variety of animals, both large & small: 3 dogs, 4 cats, 5 horses, 4 donkeys, 2 sheep, 2 goats and a llama named Pepper. In her free time, which isn’t much after working and the barns, Jessy enjoys showing horses, spending time with her family and just about anything to do with being outdoors.
Tiffany was born in Shelbyville and continues to live here. After her graduation from Shelby County High School in 2009, she pursued a degree in Animal Science at Western Kentucky University. She joined the team at JVC as a volunteer in 2009, has since become a full-time employee, and couldn’t be happier. Outside the clinic, Tiffany has two 4-legged children, Eli and Cricket (beagles), that she loves like real kids. She enjoys going to tractor pulls on the weekends, hanging out with friends and family and canning vegetables with her Nan
Raised in Springfield, Ky with her 12 older siblings, Bess moved to Spencer County where she still resides. She lives her life surrounded by animals, loving every minute of it. She has been a client at JVC since Dr. Johnson opened the doors many years ago. She has been volunteering here since 2011, and also works at Feeders Supply in Louisville. Bess has 4 horses, 3 cats and one special dog named Roxy, a rescue that was very sick when abandoned at JVC. After many months of nursing care, Roxy is now a healthy girl that is spoiled to perfection! Bess enjoys spending time outdoors, gardening and horseback riding.
Deb has been at JVC for over 14 years now. From Oldham County, she raises Miniature Sicilian Donkeys. She enjoys shopping and taking care of the family farm. She has quite the menagerie of animals, including donkeys, long horn cattle, cats and dogs.
